The pg电子下载 State University Foundation, Inc. administers a number of endowed scholarships, many of which have been established by family and friends in memory of beloved pg电子下载ites or by faculty members. Students are able to apply based on the criteria for selection by the appropriate scholarship committee. Actual amounts awarded depend on investment performance. Scholarships are awarded for the beginning of an academic year for both fall and spring semesters. One half of the total award is paid in the fall and the remaining half in the spring. No scholarships are awarded for the summer sessions. The following is a listing of all current endowed scholarships in the ASU Foundation for Education & Psychology students.

Scholarship Awards

THE DR. JESSE J. LUCAS SCHOLARSHIP FUND: – To provide an annual scholarship for a needy African-American student who has graduated from a high school in Jefferson Davis or Lincoln County and has majored in Technology Education or Mathematics Education with the intentions of obtaining teacher education certification. The student selected must have a high school GPA of 2.75 or higher and a composite ACT score of 18 or higher. The student must earn a 3.0 or better cumulative GPA in their first semester and be in good standing with the University.

JOHN I. AND EPSY Y. HENDRICKS TEACHER EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP – Undergraduate teacher education major who has been accepted into and is in good standing in the ASU Teacher Education Program: three letters of recommendation which attest to recipient’s moral character.
NICHOLS-VAUGHN SCHOLARSHIP – Full-time junior or senior elementary education major or a full-time graduate student already certified to teach at the elementary level in Mississippi; high school graduate of a public school in Coahoma, Tallahatchie, Bolivar, Quitman, Washington, Tunica, Leflore, Sunflower, Panola, Humphreys or Issaquena county; 3.0 GPA; active involvement in two (2) extracurricular, civic or community activities; show a commitment to holding a teaching assignment in a public elementary school in the Mississippi Delta.
NINNIE PRATER ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP FUND – Recipient must be an entering freshmen with a composite ACT score of 21 or above. Recipient must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or above; Recipient will be selected on the basis of need as determined by Free Application for Federal Student Aid. (FAFSA); Recipient must be an African American. Preference given to the resident of Wilkinson County interested in pursuing a degree in the Department of Education, Department of Industrial Arts, Department of Science (Chemistry, Biology, Physics) or Department of Mathematical Sciences
BEATRICE J. AND SIDNEY S. BOOSE ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP – Recipient must be a graduating senior who has been accepted to a graduate degree program in the area of Psychology or Education. The recipient must have at least a 3.0 grade point average to qualify for the award. The applicants must write a brief essay which describes his her plans for graduate school and career.
JAMES AND ANGELINE GUY POSEY SCHOLARSHIP FUND – The recipient must have a cumulative grade point average of at least a 3.0.or, is an entering freshmen with a composite ACT score of 18 or more. All currently enrolled students and accepted Freshmen are eligible (priority will be given to students from Jefferson Davis county, Covington county, Claiborne County, and other enrolled students and accepted Freshmen respectively).Preference is to be given to English and Agriculture majors expressing an interest in teaching.Prior recipients of the scholarship are eligible to reapply. However, preference is to be given to new applicants.
L. T. AND REGINA ELLIS SCHOLARSHIP – Entering freshman with 3.25 GPA; major in mathematical sciences, education, computer science, chemistry or physics.
WILLIE M. TURNER SIAS – Elementary Education major from the states of Mississippi, Illinois or Michigan with at least a 2.5 or better GPA.
DR. MALVIN A. WILLIAMS ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP– Student with a 3.10 or better cumulative GPA majoring in Mathematics, Computer Science, Nursing, Advance Technology or Elementary Education. Student is eligible to renew scholarship each year, must maintain a 3.10 GPA or better.
